During Earth Hour, hundreds of millions of
people around the world turn off their lights for one hour to show their
commitment to helping the planet.
For Earth Hour 2014 I collaborated with program staff to develop an Earth Hour Signup module. The module
allows users to signup for Earth Hour, entering their information using a Convio API. The module is also responsive, and
if the user is on a mobile phone, it will ask for their phone number to add to another text notification API.
On top of all of this, the module also changed its display and design depending on how many people were signed up and
kept a running tally of the total number at the top. Every interaction with the module was tracked through Google Analytics Event Tracking
so that its performance could be analyzed. In the days leading up to Earth Hour 2014, this module captured thousands of
signups and valuable information for further fund raising efforts.
