Front End Developer & Designer

Progressive Dental Marketing

2014 - Present

I'm currently employed by PDM as a front-end developer and designer in Clearwater, Florida. I've designed and coded over 50 responsive websites for PDM thus far.

This portfolio site is also responsive, but through a nifty solution called SUSY!

All of the PDM sites are search engine optimized. The sites are built in either Wordpress or DNN. I also use SASS to try to scale some of the repetitive stylesheet work that I do.

World Wildlife Fund

2012 - 2014

For two years I was employed by the WWF as a Web Producer. I came on board just in time for the relaunch of their website www.worldwildlife.org. in a new custom CMS featuring a responsive design.

After its launch I led the development and deployment of enhancements to the site via Github. My job was to troubleshoot all HTML, CSS/SASS and Javascript issues. I also developed and installed new features, interactive modules (featured below), and third party plugins on the site.

World Wildlife Fund Project - Earth Hour

2014

During Earth Hour, hundreds of millions of people around the world turn off their lights for one hour to show their commitment to helping the planet.

For Earth Hour 2014 I collaborated with program staff to develop a widget for Earth Hour participants. This module allowed users to signup for Earth Hour and collected their information through a Convio API. This widget was also responsive, so if the user happened to be on a mobile device, it would ask for their phone number and if they would like to receive text notifications.

The module was also visually dynamic. It changed its appearance depending on the number of sign ups and kept a running tally at the top. Every interaction with the module was also tracked through Google Analytics Event Tracking so that its performance could be analyzed. In the days leading up to Earth Hour 2014, this module captured thousands of signups and valuable information for further fund raising efforts.

World Wildlife Fund Project - Solar Energy Quiz

2013

Another project of mine at the WWF was an interactive quiz geared towards promoting WWF's campaign to increase awareness on solar energy. You can still experience it yourself here.

I collaborated with program staff to determine the content of the quiz. I then planned the UX and design of the quiz and coded it using HTML, CSS and JavaScript / JQuery.

The quiz is completely responsive and features animations, different outcomes depending on your score, and was coded so that every click and score was tracked with Google Event Tracking. This enabled WWF to determine the popularity of the quiz, which questions the public answered correct or incorrect, and how many shared the quiz or used its call to action. Upon launch, this quiz was taken by tens of thousands of WWF supporters.

Gannett

2005 - 2011

I spent almost 7 years at Gannett, one of the largest news media companies in the country.

During my time as a Team Leader in the Digital Production Center I managed the needs of nine news websites in the southern United States. Towards the end of my time there, I was tasked with building the new Gannett corporate website, which remains online today.

During the process I collaborated with Gannett designers to conceptualize, build, and launch the site. I was responsible for design concepts, coding, and it's integration with a Saxotech CMS.

Underground Poetry Spot

2008 - 2012

I designed and created a custom logo, Wordpress website, and marketing materials for a nonprofit poetry organization based in Syracuse N.Y.

This website is no longer online, but featured a completely custom theme with a homepage carousel, video and audio players, contact forms, and a blog that I kept updated with fresh artwork and content.

The marketing materials included logos, graphics for the blog, and print event posters and flyers.
